They are living in socio-cultural isolation, political powerlessness and deprived of all means of productive resources. Empowerment of poor can only take place if they are organized. It is only possible if they are able to see and analyze the key factors affecting their poverty and evolve own strategy to come out of the poverty and vulnerabilities. National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) opens up opportunities to organize the poor and address their issues of poverty through their own understanding and strategies. In this context, Samarthan has developed a six day residential training course for the development workers engaged in implementation of the project on poverty alleviation and livelihood enhancement. The training will help the development workers develop requisite skills as participatory trainer and facilitator to strengthen and empower the capacity of the poor households and their self help groups (SHGs). Duration : September 20 to September 25, 2011 (Residential ) Venue : Samarthan, 36, Green Avenue, Chuna Bhatti, Bhopal Key facilitators: Dr. Yogesh Kumar and Dr. Harish Vashistha, Ms. Nikita D’cruze Language : Hindi Fee : Rs. 8000 per participant Key contents The following topics will be discussed and practised during the training: • Learning for change/participatory learning • Gender biases in economic and social life • Participatory methods of learning • Challenges and strategies in mobilisation of poor communities • Designing a training module • Managing a training events • Strategies for livelihood analysis and sustainable livelihoods • Meaning, context and dimensions of poverty • Tools and methods of poverty analysis • Strategies for convergence and effective implementation of poverty reduction programs • Social exclusion and vulnerability analysis • National Rural Livelihood Mission The brochure is attached herewith for your information.
